Céile Care supports the sustainability and development of its family owned and operated nursing homes through the provision of operational and governance services which may otherwise not be accessible on an individual basis.

Each of our member homes is subject to Céile Care accreditation with criteria focused on quality and a demonstrated long-term commitment to their Residents.

Our family owned and operated homes have a depth of experience built on tradition and family values and are uniquely positioned to provide a personal commitment for the delivery of quality nurse led and resident centred care in all its forms – clinical, social, spiritual and emotional.

Margaret Wafer, Chief Executive

Margaret Wafer has extensive expertise in the care of older persons and the private nursing home sector. She is deeply committed to advancing the provision of exceptional, person-centered care for older adults.

Margaret’s career includes leadership roles as Director of Nursing, Regional Director, and Clinical & Quality Director. Her academic and professional qualifications encompass general nursing, gerontological nursing, infection prevention and control, and quality and risk management.

A prominent advocate for excellence in the nursing home sector, Margaret has represented the industry on a national level. She serves as a Director and Steering Committee Member of LHP Skillnet Ireland, actively contributing to workforce development and education initiatives. Additionally, Margaret is a member of the Integrated Care for Older People Resident in Long-Term Residential Care (LTRC) Reference Group and the National Working Group for the Residential Older Persons Early Warning System, reflecting her dedication to enhancing integrated care models and safety standards in residential care settings.

As Chief Executive Officer of Céile Care, Margaret drives initiatives that support family-run nursing homes, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, person-centered care for older adults.

Fergus McNulty, Chairman

Fergus is a Director with Marymount Care Centre, a family owned and operated Nursing Home in Lucan, overseeing operational governance, planning and development for the organisation. Fergus has also worked in a senior leadership capacity within the International Financial Services sector with over 20 years’ experience in HR strategy, talent management, organisational development, and employee relations.

Sharon O’Boyle, Director

Sharon, originally a native of New Zealand, is a registered nurse since 2004 and businesswoman who has owned and managed Ballinamore House Nursing Home in Co. Mayo since its inception in 1998.

With over 30 years of combined business and clinical experience, Sharon has acted as a registered provider representative during the regulatory overhaul of the nursing home industry in the 21st century. She has an intricate knowledge of associated regulations and considerable experience in dealings with HIQA and other industry regulators.

Valerie Ryan, Director

Val Ryan is the Registered Provider representative on behalf of her family for Curragh Lawn Nursing Home in Co Kildare. Val is also Director of Nursing with responsibility for training, education, policy development and implementation in the Centre. Val holds a Diploma in Nursing Studies from St Vincent’s Hospital Elm Park and has also completed the Higher Certificate in Gerontology from Birbeck College, London. Val has also qualified in Healthcare Management (UCD), Dementia Management (University of Stirling) and Infection Prevention and Control (UCC). Val has been a member of Nursing Home Ireland’s National Nurses Committee for the past 10 years to date and has contributed to the many policies, guidance documents and Standards developed for all Nursing Homes. Val was also Chair of Nursing Home’s Nursing Projects and Co-Chair of The Irish National Extended Care Medicine Association (Clinical Governance groups) for 10 years. Both associations support 80 Directors of Nursing and Persons in Charge on clinical matters.

Sinéad Morrissey, Non-Executive Director

Sinéad has over 20 years of nursing expertise in care of the older person and has a proven track record of providing strong leadership and change management services and directing service provision in line with professional, legal, and corporate responsibilities. Sinéad worked as the Practice Development Facilitator for Nursing Homes Ireland, the national representative organisation for the private and voluntary nursing home sector. Sinéad has extensive clinical and regulatory expertise and has participated in Expert Advisory, Steering, Focus and Standards development groups for the Department of Health, HIQA, HSE and other key stakeholders. Sinéad holds a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) degree and was recently Adjunct Professor, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin on the BEING ME project, an Erasmus+ funded project.

Warren Barry, Director

Warren is the General Manager of Clearbrook Nursing Home, a family owned and operated Nursing Home in Finglas. Warren is responsible for the governance and operational management in Clearbrook.

Warren has a clinical background as a Chartered Physiotherapist and has extensive experience in healthcare governance, regulatory and safety supports to the health and social care sectors in Ireland through his background as a healthcare management consultant in healthcare quality and safety.

Ruth Smith, Business Support Coordinator

Ruth Smith is a key member of the Céile Care team supporting the efficient running of Céile Care operations. Ruth manages the delivery of professional and responsive support service to our franchisees and other stakeholders and will oversee the management of Ceile Care technology platforms, including our franchisee Resource Hub. Ruth has over 12 years’ experience working within the Health Care sector in an operational management capacity. As Service Manager for the Dermatology, Lymphoedema, Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Clinical Infection Units in St Georges Hospital in London, Ruth had responsibility for day-to-day operations as well as the management of projects impacting the efficient operation of the hospital as well as patient experience.

Valerie Joy, Director

Val Joy, Director of Nursing & the Registered Provider representative on behalf of the Joy family for Lisheen Nursing Home, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin is a registered nurse with experience within hospital and community settings, specialising in Older Person Care and Stroke Rehabilitation. Val has responsibility for all issues relating to the care and welfare of residents, liaising with families and other health care professionals. Within her role, Val also supports staff in the provision of person-centred care through continuous staff development and training. Val is a qualified Moving and Handling, CPR and Safeguarding Instructor and is also involved in the development of Policies and Standards and completed a Higher Certificate in Health Services Management in the University of Limerick. She has an ardent interest in Dementia Care and has completed a Masters in Dementia Care with Dublin City University.  Val also has a qualification in Clinical Governance and Quality Management in Residential Care Settings for Older People and Infection Prevention & Control in Healthcare. Val has previously represented Nursing Home Ireland (NHI) on several committees and has held positions including being a member of the Fitness to Practice Committee of NMBI,  the National Safeguarding Committee, the Board of NHI and other positions on National Advisory Groups for the Department of Health, HIQA and the NMBI.
